The story

Chloe's injuries are more serious than first thought. At the hospital, an X-ray reveals that her ankle is broken and she will be unable to walk on it for six weeks.

Meanwhile, Kade's lie is spreading.

He tells Allie that Jono pushed Chloe into the quarry, and before long even Jack begins questioning whether his friend is telling the truth.

Jono is devastated.

He knows exactly what happened. He saw Kade push Chloe, rushed to help her and found Mrs Jones so she could be rescued. Yet the very people who know him are beginning to believe a story that doesn't fit with the person they know him to be.

Instead of retaliating, Jono asks God for wisdom and patience and determines to stick to the truth. His dad continues the story of Joseph. After being sold into slavery, Joseph is falsely accused of wrongdoing and thrown into prison. Yet Joseph refuses to allow injustice to determine who he becomes. He continues trusting God, telling the truth and faithfully doing what is right wherever he finds himself. Jono begins to understand that trusting God doesn't mean unfair things will never happen. Sometimes it means remaining faithful while waiting for the truth to emerge.

Jack, however, has another lesson to learn.

When he tells his dad what he has heard about Jono, Tony challenges him to examine the evidence. Is Kade a reliable source? Does his story make sense? Was Mr Adams really marking the sports field on a Sunday? Why would Kade know so much about an incident he claims he didn't witness? And does Jono's past behaviour support the accusation?

Jack suddenly realises that he has accepted someone's story without properly examining the facts. He has failed to use discernment, and in doing so, he has hurt his friend.

Jack decides to find Jono and apologise.

The episode challenges children to resist rumours, assumptions and quick judgements, to examine whether their sources are trustworthy and to remember that truth is not determined simply by what people say.
